Passengers uninjured Ferrari catches on fire while on A3 towards Cologne

NEUWIED · On Thursday morning, a Ferrari was on the A3 to Cologne when it caught fire and was completely destroyed. Both passengers could escape, remaining uninjured. The autobahn was partially closed off for four hours.

According to police information, two people were on the A3 autobahn driving towards Cologne on Thursday morning when they suddenly heard a loud bang. They then noticed that there were flames shooting out of the rear of the car.

The driver immediately pulled over to the side of the road. He and his passenger got out of the car quickly and called the fire department. By the time the fire department arrived on the scene at 8:45 am, the car was completely destroyed by the fire.

Fire fighters extinguished the fire. An initial investigation points to engine failure as the cause of the fire.

The right lane and middle lane were both closed off while fire fighters put out the fire. The far right lane remained closed until 12:25 pm for clean-up and recovery work.

Ferrari was a rare model

According to an automobile guide, this type of Ferrari is only a year old and a special edition of the series F12 TDF. Only 799 of these models exist. The driver reports that the Ferrari had a total worth of around one million euros when the incident happened.
