In Australia, several hundred people protested in Brisbane and Melbourne, among other places. In Berlin dozens of activists spent the night in sleeping bags under the Victory Column to block traffic there for the second day in a row. More than 150 participants stayed at Potsdamer Platz until late into the night after the police abandoned an evacuation of the square.

The situation in the German capital had been quiet during Monday night, a police spokesman said early in the morning, adding: "They have to sleep, they want to continue tomorrow.“

On Monday about 3000 demonstrators had blocked streets at the Siegessäule and Potsdamer Platz in Berlin to protest for more climate protection. At the beginning of the demonstration week, the effects of the road blockades remained manageable in Berlin, where schools are currently on autumn holidays.

Climate activists: police began to evacuate Potsdamer Platz

First, the police had let the activists go. In the early evening, however, the officers began to evacuate the rally at Potsdamer Platz. A spokeswoman for „Extinction Rebellion“ praised the behaviour of the police as "extremely positive". Later the police stopped the evacuation, as announced by the traffic control center in Berlin. The facility belongs to the Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection. The police did not comment. The climate activists said: "Our rebellion has only just begun."

There have been „Extinction Rebellion“ actions in several major cities around the world. Activists were arrested in several Australian cities on the second day. On Monday in London and Amsterdam almost 200 activists were arrested during blockades. Extinction Rebellion originated in Great Britain.
