It is likely that the body of the 25-year-old woman who disappeared from the Rhine hotel ship "Rhine Princess" on Thursday last week has been found. Pedestrians discovered a dead woman in the Rhine at the Theodor-Heuss bridge in Düsseldorf on Friday.

Even though the identity of the body found has not yet been confirmed, the police are currently presuming that it is the missing person who disappeared from the hotel ship near Bonn. A police spokesman made the announcement on Saturday and it was reaffirmed on Monday morning. Police spokesman Robert Scholten said that there was a "high probability" that it was the missing person.

Observers had reported last week that the 25-year-old fell off the ship at about 9:45 p.m. near the Kennedy Bridge. Police and rescue workers had searched for the hotel ship staff member, but could not find the woman. She is originally from Indonesia.

Whether the woman, who apparently could not swim, fell into the Rhine due to an accident, intentionally or by attempted suicide, the police cannot say at this point in time. At first it was suspected that a 42-year-old colleague might have pushed her off the boat. However, this finding had not been substantiated.
