The General-Anzeiger is clearer. The new, single-column layout directs attention to the essentials: the contents of the General-Anzeiger, news from Bonn, the region, Germany and the world. From now on there will be no more content or offers in the margin column. The menu is also slimmer and clearer. This way you can get to the page you want to visit even faster.

The General-Anzeiger is faster. We have optimised our loading times so that you can quickly call up not only our breaking news, but also all news, reports, videos and picture galleries. The site is built up faster - and with it the articles that interest you.

The General-Anzeiger creates space for photos and videos. In our new design, photos and videos have more space. Photos are not only larger in the article itself, but can also be enlarged with a click.

The General-Anzeiger remains responsive. Whether Smartphone, Tablet or PC: The layout of our digital offering(s) will also adapt to your device in the future, so that the browser displays our pages optimally.

The General-Anzeiger will become even more personalizable. As a registered user, you were able to follow certain topics and authors on our previous page and received a message whenever there was a corresponding new article. Now you have even more possibilities to set up the homepage of the General-Anzeiger as you wish. On the homepage you can set up direct links to individual city pages. You can also decide which traffic reports you want to see.

Do I have to register again?

No, a new registration is not necessary. However, you have to register for the first time with the existing data. If you then enter your e-mail address and password, you will receive an e-mail from us with an activation link. Simply click on this link and your registration will be activated again. This happens exclusively for the protection of your data and is necessary only with the very first registration on our new homepage. Afterwards you can simply register with the existing data or remain registered. If you do not yet have a user account with the General-Anzeiger, you can register free of charge via the menu item "Login".

How do I follow a topic or an author?

You can follow certain topics or authors on our site and always get a notification when there is a new text on the topic or from the author. If an article belongs to one of our topics or if it is possible to follow an author, you will see a bell or a corresponding button next to the topic or author name in the article itself. Simply click on it and you will receive the corresponding notifications. Another click on the bell or the button and you can turn off the notifications again. An overview of the topics can be found on www.ga.de/thema/, the authors can be found on www.ga.de/autor/.

I already follow a topic or an author. Will my settings be saved?

Unfortunately, this is not possible for technical reasons. You have to subscribe to the corresponding topics or authors once again.

How do I find my way around the new site?

The navigation bar at the top of each page together with the menu are helpful for orientation and navigation on the page. This will always take you to the page you are looking for. Click on the logo of the General-Anzeiger to return to the homepage. Further information on navigation and an explanation of the search can be found in our picture gallery above in this text.

How can the General-Anzeiger website be tailored to me and my interests?

In addition to the topics that you can subscribe to as a registered user, you now also have the option of personalising various areas of the site. For example, you can fill the DeepL access bar at the top of the page ("Direct to") with links to news pages of cities and municipalities in our distribution area in which you are interested. Even if you are interested in a sports club, you can set up a DeepL access here. You can also decide which traffic reports we should show you. Unfortunately, the function to personalize the weather display is not yet available. You will also find tips for setting up the settings in our picture gallery.
