An alleged fire was reported in an empty building on Oberen Wilhelmstraße in Beuel on Tuesday evening at about 19.35 hrs. On arrival of the auxiliaries, the fire brigade determined an increased carbon monoxide value, but could not detect a fire.

According to Philip Knoff, head of the professional fire brigade, five homeless people were staying in the building. They presumably wanted to prepare food with a grill.

One person had to be rescued from the building and handed over to the rescue service. After an examination, however, no more serious injury was found.

The building is supposed to be the former "Brauhaus Beuel". The security of the building is now to be taken over by the public order office.
