On Wednesday, the police found a lifeless man in an asylum shelter in Lohmar. An emergency doctor on site could only determine the death of the 45-year-old. According to the Bonn police, a homicide squad has been set up. It has taken over the investigation together with the public prosecutor's office.

The 45-year-old's home address was obtained by the officers during an operation that took place in Siegburg early Wednesday morning at 6.40 a.m. A passer-by had informed the police by emergency call about two possibly intoxicated persons who were on foot from the direction of the B484 near Aulgasse. A patrol car crew encountered a 28-year-old man with injuries to his upper body. An emergency doctor treated him before he was taken to hospital.

In the course of further investigations into the residential surroundings of the 28-year-old, who according to the police lives in the central accommodation facility of the state in Sankt Augustin, investigations finally resulted in the identification of the companion of the injured person. Subsequently, police officers visited the apartment of the 45-year-old in the asylum centre, who, according to witnesses, is said to have had contact with the injured man. There the police found him lifeless.

Two arrests

After the initial investigations, the police provisionally arrested the 28-year-old who had previously been taken to hospital. In addition, another 28-year-old man, who may have been the suspect's companion, was also provisionally arrested.

Due to the overall circumstances, a homicide squad has been set up under the direction of the First Commissioner of Criminal Investigation, Michael Brück. It has begun investigations in close cooperation with Chief Public Prosecutor Claudia Heitmann.
