Parking space in cities is a rare commodity and getting one can therefore be a highly competitive matter. Our author increasingly observes how the fight for parking spaces becomes a battle of wits.

The struggle for the usually too few and far between available parking spaces is one of the great battles that civilised and mobilised people have to fight almost every day. In this respect, the quarter between Burbacher Straße and Hausdorffstraße in Kessenich, for example, is turning into an increasingly interesting and contested battle zone.

For example, one owner of a vehicle recently found a handwritten note behind his windshield certifying that he was parking like a pink farm animal with a curly tail. A few days later, the handwritten and certainly well-intentioned advice was stuck behind another windshield, stating that one should please park in one's own street. It remains to be seen how the author of that advice knew that it was a non-resident parking there. As well as the fact that you can park your car on any public parking lot of course in compliance with the given regulations.

The latest escalation was recently experienced by a car driver in sticky form. A sticker was attached to the windscreen on the passenger side, on which the method of parking was very explicitly expressed. In fact, this car, compared to the other two, was parked incorrectly.

Nevertheless, it is not to be assumed that the sticker represents a new kind of parking ticket of the city of Bonn. In this case, the parking offender did not have to pay a fine, but he might not have been able to get the sticker off the windscreen without leaving a trace. The fact that the sticker can also be construed as damage to property should be disregarded. Whether the learning effect towards correct parking is higher in this case, has to remain unanswered. In any case, the situation in Kessenich should continue to be observed. Perhaps there will be some Christmas peace in the parking area.
