Hundreds of costume clad carnevalists, dressed as pirates, clowns and hot air balloons, filled the streets of the parade route in Bad Godesberg on Sunday. The mood was festive, loud and happy, and the weather cooperated. Police estimate around 60,000 people crowded the parade route, creating a colorful spectacle. Other than a half dozen small incidents, police say it was a peaceful celebration.

Floats, musical fanfare and traditional carnevalists entertained the crowd for over 2 hours as they made their way through “Jodesberch” (carnival for Godesberg). While a few parade goers could be spotted consuming alcohol on the sidelines, most were fully consumed with the candy and goodies raining down on them –“Kamelle”!

The “Plittersdorfer Kamellenbombers” lived up to their name, which translates to something like “Plittersdorf candy bombers” - throwing out a massive amount of treats to parade watchers. No wonder kids look forward to this event every year. The Bad Godesberg parade is especially cherished, and attendance this year sent out a positive signal.
