G20 meeting in Bonn A59 could be temporarily closed

BONN · The airport autobahn A59 may see some temporary closures on Friday when foreign ministers make their way to the airport. U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will be staying in Bad Neuenahr, which could also lead to some traffic congestion there.

More information has become known surrounding the G20 foreign ministers meeting in Bonn on Thursday and Friday. Responding to a GA inquiry, police confirmed that they may need to close off the A59 autobahn at times on Friday while foreign ministers make their way to the airport.

The conference is scheduled to end between 2 and 5 pm. U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will be staying in Bad Neuenahr at the Steigenberger Hotel so there may also be street closures and congestion there. Two floors of the hotel have been booked for the 70-person U.S. delegation. During their arrival and departure times, one can expect traffic disruptions.

Police have set up a phone line for citizens: (0228) 15 30 30 / Wed. from 8 am - 5 pm, Thurs, Fri. from 7 am - 8 pm.
