Frankfurt to Cologne route After ICE fire: trains stop more frequently at Siegburg again

Siegburg · Travelers who use the ICE trains to and from Siegburg will soon have some relief. Following the fire aboard an ICE train in October, Siegburg will be serviced with more frequent stops again.

Train travelers can breathe a sigh of relief: From November 5, there will be more frequent stops at the Siegburg train station again. A fire aboard an ICE train in Dierdorf made repairs necessary, both to the tracks and the high-voltage line overhead.

Long-distance trains to and from Frankfurt have been affected since October 12. With repairs having had to be carried out on the line, not all scheduled stops in Siegburg could be serviced, as the railway reported after the fire. The reason given was that some trains had to change to a middle track without a platform.

As Deutsche Bahn (German Rai) announced on Saturday, the following stops in Siegburg and Montabauer will be offered again from Monday, November 5:

ICE 201 Cologne Central Station - Basel SBB stops in Montabaur (17:25)
ICE 613 Dortmund Hbf - Munich Hbf stops in Montabaur (18:25)
ICE 618 (ICE 1018) Munich Central Station - Essen Central Station - Dortmund Central Station stops in Montabaur (6:27)
ICE 2394 Frankfurt (M) Hbf - Dortmund Hbf stops in Siegburg/Bonn (22:26)

Trains ICE 2323 and 2328 with stops in Siegburg/Bonn and Limburg/Süd also run from November 6 to 8 and on November 13:

ICE 2323 Cologne Central Station - Stuttgart stops in Siegburg/Bonn (6:27) and Limburg South (7:14)
ICE 2328 Stuttgart - Cologne Central Station stops in Limburg South (12:18)

As well, trains are running between Frankfurt Central Station - Frankfurt Airport - Limburg South - Montabaur, Deutsche Bahn announced.

From November 18, the high-speed route between Cologne and Frankfurt will again be dual-track. The ICE trains will then be able to run again according to the regular timetable, according to a statement by Deutsche Bahn.
