In the current university rankings of the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE), the University of Bonn is once again among the top 10 German universities, in ninth place. As the university reports in a press release, the university also ranks 105th out of 1,400 evaluated institutions. Various indicators were collected for the World University Ranking, including research, teaching, knowledge transfer and degree of internationality.

The university rector Michael Hoch is pleased with the good performance: “In this comparison of the best universities worldwide, we were able to once again improve the ranking of Bonn University. But this is only an interim result for us. Our clear goal is to establish Bonn University firmly among the top 100 universities worldwide and among the top 20 in Europe.”

In the current Academic Ranking of World Universities (the so-called “Shanghai Ranking”), the university ranked 70th worldwide. In addition, it was recently admitted to the group of eleven German centres of excellence and excellence networks, and with six funded excellence clusters, it was the most successful university in the nationwide excellence competition.
