Advent in Bonn and region Christmas markets and bazaars

BONN/REGION · With Christmas just over a month away, various Christmas markets are starting to open- whether a small charity affair or the big city market. German Christmas markets are very popular with expats and locals alike.

There is Glühwein (hot spiced wine) to warm up the body and spirit on a cold day, reibekuchen (potato pancakes) that taste especially nummy with apfelmousse (applesauce), hand made arts and crafts and much more. Some of the first openings are already this weekend.

Bonn Christmas market

More than 180 booths and stands with a wide variety of arts and crafts -both decorative and practical, Christmas decorations, and tasty culinary delights can all be found at the Christmas market in Bonn inner city. The Aktionshaus for children is open once again on Münsterplatz. There, children who are age 6 and older can play, paint or do arts and crafts (closed on Sun., Nov. 20).

Where: Münsterplatz, Bottlerplatz, Friedensplatz Mülheimer Platz as well as Windeckstraße, Vivatsgasse and Poststraße.
When: 18. November until 23. December 2016 (closed 20. November due to observance of Sunday of the Dead)

  • Merchandise stands open: 11 am - 9 pm
  • Food & beverage stands open: 11 am - 9:30 pm (Sun.- Thurs.), 11 am . 10:30 pm (Friday and Sat.)

“Christmas Bazaar” - British Advent market in Beuel

In this English-oriented market, one can purchase food products from the U.K. as well as culinary treats on site. To round it out, there is a raffle, gift articles, and Christmas cards. English language books will also be on sale.

Andheri-Christmas market for charity

This Christmas market includes work from India, patchworks, second-hand clothing, nostalgia and other interesting items. Profits will go to help young people in Bangladesh receive career training.

Where: Auditorium of the CvO-Gymnasiums, Im Schmalzacker 49
When: 19. and 20. November 2016
Open: 2 - 6 pm

Christmas Market Bad Godesberg

Directly following the weekend, the Bad Godesberg Christmas market will open on Monday. Around 50 stands will offer a variety of handmade items, Christmas decorations, plus glühwein and good things to eat. For children, there is a Carousel at the market.
