It was difficult to arrange because Bonn does not have an official circus grounds. "The location in the Rheinaue had been determined for a long time, but we could not officially announce it, because there were still a number of finely-tuned agreements to be made," Freudrich said.

The Circus Roncalli, which now specializes in acrobatic numbers and does without animals, will visit eight German cities this year - among them Bonn. In Bonn, it will be in same location where an open-air series by concert promoter Ernst-Ludwig Hartz will take place this summer.

Already 450,000 enthusiastic spectators experienced Bernhard Paul's latest masterpiece "Storyteller: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" in 2018. Now there are no more obstacles in the way of performances by the acclaimed circus in Bonn. It is the third city on the 2019 tour for Roncalli, and it will take the circus all over Germany.

"We are delighted that we will be giving a guest performance in this area in coordination with the city of Bonn and the people responsible for the open-air series. Since the construction work on Bonn's Stadtgarten is still ongoing, we have found the KunstRasen on Charles-de-Gaulle-Strasse to be a popular and well-known alternative area among Bonners," says Roncalli founder and director Bernhard Paul. "Bonn is a city steeped in history for Roncalli and is close to our hearts. We celebrated our premiere there 43 years ago," said Paul.
