The popular ferry that connects Beuel with Bonn has been crossing the Rhine again since Wednesday. Since July last year, the Rheinnixe has been securely moored on the Beuel Rhine bank because of the long-standing illness of its skipper. Max Dornau, managing director of Bonn Ferry and Passenger Cruising GmbH, explained the long break by a shortage of personnel. “We still haven’t found a permanent replacement and are urgently looking for someone who has a licence for Rhine navigation between Cologne and Koblenz.”

Peter Fischer, an experienced skipper from Cologne, is currently at the helm of the Rheinnixe and transports passengers from Beuel to Bonn and back from Wednesday to Sunday – every 20 minutes between 12 noon and 5 p.m. However, this timetable is only valid until the end of March. For April, operations on a similar scale are in preparation.

“But I don’t know what will happen when the tourist high season on the Rhine begins and all the skippers are needed for the large passenger ships. If I haven’t found news colleagues by then, I will unfortunately have to stop operating the Rheinnixe again.” If someone has the required navigation licence and would enjoy navigating the Rheinnixe, they can contact Max Dornau by e-mail at info@bsf-bonn.com.
