Construction is about to start on the new hotel at the Erzbergerufer. According to Landmarken AG, the city issued the approval in August. The pile foundations necessary for the statics have already been laid. On Wednesday 11 September, the investor and the general contractor MBN Bau GmbH are planning the laying of the foundation stone, to which residents are also invited.

According to Landmarken AG, the partial demolition of the air raid bunker directly adjacent to the Beethovenhalle is almost finished and should be completed in September. The floor of the bunker and parts of the side walls will be incorporated into the foundation of the new building. The Aachen investors are planning a three-star hotel with a rooftop bar. A large terrace in front of the building will open onto the Rhine.

The design, by architects kadawittfeld and landscapers from RMP Stephan Lenzen, was recently awarded the “Polis” prize for urban development. Landmarken AG bought the prime 3100 square metre site, on which a student residence used to stand, from the city in 2018 for around four million euros.
