Corona hotspot in the Rhine-Sieg district Entire Eitorfer workforce at ZF quarantined
Rhein-Sieg district · There are now 91 corona cases at the automotive supplier in Eitorf, a new mass test of the employees will follow on Thursday. The seven-day incidence value rises to 152.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the Rhein-Sieg district.
At the automotive supplier ZF Friedrichshafen in Eitorf, 91 employees have now been tested positive for the corona virus. The district health authority has sent the entire workforce into domestic quarantine. Production has not yet come to a standstill. "Employees are allowed to leave their homes to go to work under protection on November 10 and 11," reported district spokeswoman Rita Lorenz on Tuesday in response to an enquiry. A new mass test of the 700 or so employees on Sars-CoV-2 will then take place on Thursday.
"Even though there are no signs so far that the corona virus has spread on the ZF factory premises, we are suspending production at our Eitorf site from Thursday to Sunday as a precautionary measure," announced a ZF spokeswoman. All employees who test negative are then expected to resume work at the plant with strict safety precautions despite quarantine. "Of course, we are doing everything in our power to continue to reliably supply our customers with hydraulic damping modules - but the health and protection of our employees still has top priority," said the spokeswoman.
As reported, the entire workforce was already called up last Thursday for an initial mass test. By Friday noon, the group had reported 41 corona infections at ZF. Since then, the community of Eitorf has become a hotspot. In purely arithmetical terms, the incidence value in the municipality is probably over 400. On Monday, the district in Eitorf recorded a total of 130 current corona cases, more recent figures are not available.
The municipality announced on Tuesday that everything necessary is currently being done, in close coordination with the Health Department and ZF AG, "to control the situation and contain the further spread of the virus". The Eitorfer town hall is already closed to the public. The care services at the Alzenbach primary school will also be suspended until 18 November.
The number of infections remains high throughout the district. On Tuesday, the seven-day incidence value rose to 152.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants according to the NRW Health Centre.
Rita Lorenz confirmed a larger outbreak at the Curanum senior citizens' residence on Kurhausstraße in Hennef. The first case of corona had been confirmed here at the beginning of November. When six people were infected, all residents were tested. "With the results from the weekend, 18 cases were added, so that there are now 24 people who have tested positive," said the district spokeswoman. All contact persons were in quarantine. Meanwhile, the Beethoven residential home in Bornheim is no longer completely quarantined. Here, 60 people, including 20 nursing staff, have tested positive for the corona virus.
