Mugging in Mehlem Four persons rob 18-year-old at the Rhine

Mehlem · A teen was the victim of a mugging at the Rhine on Wednesday evening. His watch and wallet were stolen and he was injured in the attack.

On Wednesday evening at around 7:15 pm, an 18-year-old was the victim of a mugging near the Rhine (John-McCloy Ufer) in Mehlem. The young man was robbed by four persons who caught up with him at the Rosenpark.

Investigators say that the attackers stood in front of the teenager and demanded in “broken German” that he come with them. Two walked to the right of the teen and two to the left of him. They led him through Rosenpark and across Nibelungenstraße where a canal is currently under construction. There, they attacked him, pushed him to the ground and took his watch from his arm. They demanded that he hand over his wallet and they fled with the stolen goods in the direction of Nibelungenstraße. The teen was injured in the attack.

The following descriptions of the perpetrators have been released: all of them are between 17 and 19-years-old, 1.85 to 1.9 meters tall with muscular upper bodies. One was wearing a dark hooded pullover with the hood pulled over his head. One had a beard on the chin and some facial hair on the cheeks. The four of them spoke in a language that the 18-year-old could not identify.
