VRS ticket-free day Free public transport for a day in Bonn and region

Bonn/Cologne · The Rhine-Sieg Transport Association (VRS) aims to remove obstacles to and prejudices against public transport with a ticket-free day on 23 June. Regional trains are also taking part.

The regional railways will also participate in the Rhine-Sieg Transport Association’s (VRS) ticket-free day. This was announced by the VRS on Monday. On Sunday 23 June, from midnight until the close of operations at 3am on Monday morning, travel will be free for all citizens in the VRS area, which includes the cities of Bonn, Cologne and Leverkusen, the Rhine-Sieg district and the Euskirchen, Oberbergisch, Rheinisch-Bergisch and Rhine-Erft-districts. The airport bus is also free of charge.

The regional trains were initially omitted as there was still a need for consultation. Now the free travel applies to all public transport buses, and city, regional and S-Bahn lines. “Our goal is to remove obstacles to and prejudices against public transport,” explained VRS management.
