A Bonn "original" Hundreds celebrate Addi Plonka

Bonn · The farewell seemed to be never-ending: On Saturday evening, hundreds of friends, acquaintances and former patrons wished Adrian - Addi - Plonka well on his last day before retiring from the chipper business on the Lennéstaße.

The owner of the legendary Lenné-Snack in Bonn’s south city has closed its doors for good. On Saturday the carnival colleagues of the carnival society (KG) Alkoholisierte Funken including their president Christoph „Stoffel“ Jolas and former prince Rainer Abels organised food and drink for everyone on the completely closed off Lennéstraße.

Amidst the Alkoholisierten Funken on the open top double decker bus was a visibly moved Plonka, a KG member himself, listening to trumpet player Bruce Kapusza playing one farewell song after another. About 5,000 litres of free beer were consumedthat evening, reports Ingo Dittmann, a friend of Addi Plonka and chairman of the KG Sternschnuppen.

Lord Mayor Ashok Sridharan joined in the celebrations and gavea witty speech about the 56-year-old gastronomer.
