Ice skating season starts Ice rink opens on Wednesday in Bonn city center

Bonn · The seasonal ice rink opens in Bonn city center today in the area called the Stadtgarten. Besides ice skating, curling is especially popular there. For that, reservations are needed.

It's hard to believe: Last Monday was the warmest November day in 50 years with 20 degrees Celsius - and starting today ice-skating will be offered in the Stadtgarten am Alten Zoll in Bonn city center. "But we can do it," said ice rink operator Otmar Kaiser after a final check on Tuesday. The ice is ready and was able to bear the load of the Zamboni (ice resurfacer). "And on Wednesday evening it will be seven centimeters thick," Kaiser is convinced. Visitors then will also be entertained by a disco on ice.

Mayor Ashok Sridharan had to cancel an appearance at the opening due to illness. But Kaiser said they would try to invite him on another occasion so that he could see people enjoying the sport. The skating rink in the Stadtgarten is open until January 20, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and Sundays, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.. The prices for skating and renting skates remain the same as last year. By next week at the latest, the temperatures should be more wintry. There is already a very high demand again for curling and reservations are required by signing up online at: www.bonnonice.de.
