A 56-year-old man fell between the edge of the platform and a train at Bonn Central Station at around 12:45 pm on Saturday. As the federal police reported on Tuesday, the train driver immediately noticed the incident, stopped his train and was able to prevent the man from suffering life-threatening injuries.

The passenger had just missed the regional train, the train doors did not open. He was so angry about it that he ran beside the train with his dog on his arm and pounded the windows of the train in rage. He finally lost his balance and fell. His dog landed unharmed on the platform.

Due to the quick reaction of the train driver it was possible to prevent the train from rolling over the fallen man. According to the federal police, video footage shows an unknown witness helping the man from the track area. Rescue services were called and provided first aid while still on the platform. In the end, the man, who was confirmed to have a breath alcohol content of 1.6 per mille, only suffered abrasions.

After medical treatment and an accident report filed by the federal police, the man from Bonn was released at his own request, but refused to be taken to hospital. The federal police initiated an inquiry for disturbing public services.
