A message in a bottle from Bonn has been sent on a trip to the other end of the world. More than seven years ago, their two children and their friends threw a message into the Rhine for a possible finder, the children's father, Christian Gogos, told the German Press Agency.

Last week, the family had surprisingly received a letter from New Zealand, with a date of dispatch at the beginning of February. "Dear Sila, Frida, Maja and Jon, we found your message in a bottle and are sending it back from Auckland, New Zealand," it said, "it has come a long way! As the crow flies, there are more than 18,000 kilometres between Bonn and Auckland - and one or more oceans.“

Unfortunately, the senders who signed with Scott, Julia, Lea and Alice Joy did not include their own address in the mail, Gogos said. "We would like to know exactly where the bottle was found, what it looks like now after all these years, and if they keep it somewhere special." That is why the Bonn family, whose children are now 12 and 14 years old, hopes to track down the finders in the Pacific island state with a Facebook call. After all, news is likely to spread faster via the Internet than by message in a bottle.
