All-clear after flue gas alarm

Due to a fire in a waste recycling center causing strong flue gas emissions, the alarm was raised in Swisttal-Ollheim on Saturday afternoon, shortly before 5pm. Several bales of plastic were ablaze. Residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed and to switch air conditioning systems off. The fire was under control around 6pm. The all-clear for the public has been issued. Search for witnesses: Police patrol cars smeared with paint

The first day of the Pützchens Markt fair passed relatively calmly, according to the police. 35 reprimands were issued, six people did not obey these and were taken into temporary custody, also an investigation was launched after patrol cars were smeared with paint. Only the tram delays after an overhead line was damaged at the Bundesrechnungshof stop caused some problems. 600 participants: Bonn people demonstrate against sea rescue criminalisation

Approximately 600 Bonn people have demonstrated against the criminalisation of sea rescue missions on Saturday afternoon at 3pm. They walked from the Bertha-von-Suttner-Platz to the Friedensplatz and on to the Münsterplatz for the final rally.

„Until 2015 the sea rescue missions were still considered humanitarian aid“, said Mohamad who had experienced this aid as a refugee first-hand when he spoke to the crowd. The demonstrators demanded that the rescue boats of NGOs should resume their work again. Currently they are not allowed to save people from the sea, some rescuers are accused to have worked with illegal immigration groups.
