TROISDORF. First Troisdorf, then Sankt Augustin: Early on Saturday morning several cars in the region were on fire. First the fire brigade was called out at 3.20 a.m. to a vehicle fire in Troisdorf. On Paul-Mueller-Strasse an Opel Astra burned in the front and rear of the vehicle. Only a little later the fire brigade in Sankt Augustin was called to a burning car. On the way back from an acquaintance, a passer-by had noticed the fire at the premises of a garage on Fasanenweg in the Menden district and informed the emergency services. BONN. For a good two years, experts as well as representatives from institutions, administration, authorities, politics and the citizens have been working in Bonn on a strategy paper with goals for sustainability for a more livable city. The sustainability strategy is intended to set the framework for the implementation of the concept of sustainable development in Bonn in the context of Agenda 2030: a catalogue of 17 goals for sustainable development adopted by the United Nations in 2015. These include, for example, the energy-efficient refurbishment of urban buildings, the expansion of renewable energy and local public transport, and a significant improvement in cycling (we reported).

DUISDORF. The Bonn meteorologist Karsten Brandt warned in a lecture against the climatic consequences of building on fresh air corridors such as the Meßdorf field. In his treatise, Brandt also explained the temperature in Bonn: "The warming is progressing faster than expected". "We should see that this large open space is preserved," the weather expert is convinced. A citizens' initiative for the preservation of the Meßdorf field, which has been campaigning for years against further development of the "Lorth-Zipfels" (named after the former district leader Gerhard Lorth) and other areas of the field, had invited the public to the lecture. The audience also agreed with Brandt.

KÖNIGSWINTER. In the night to Saturday a garage fire broke out in Königswinter. Both the garage and a car parked in it burnt out completely. A garage with a car parked there burned early on Saturday morning in the old town of Königswinter. According to the volunteer fire brigade Königswinter it received the alarm at 4:08 a.m. early on Saturday morning for the garage fire.

At this time the Grabenstraße was named as the site of the fire. After further phone calls it became clear that a garage building in the street Kleiner Graben with a car in it was fully ablaze. A local resident, who was also a member of the fire brigade, had become aware of the fire through a loud bang. He used a garden hose to prevent the fire from spreading until the firefighters arrived. Afterwards the fire was extinguished with foam and post-firefighting work was carried out with the help of a thermal imaging camera. The deployment of 40 fire-officers of the units Old Town, Niederdollendorf and Oberdollendorf ended at 5.30 a.m. The Bonn police began investigations into the cause of the fire.

BAD GODESBERG. TGood news for the tenants of a Vonovia house on Gotenstrasse: After a fire and some disagreements with the company, renovation work is now to begin. After the anger about the fire in the staircase of the Vonovia House at Gotenstraße 96, clean-up work will soon begin. As reported, there has been no permission by the insurance company so far to begin with repair work. Police are still investigating whether it was arson on December 21, 2018. According to Vonovia spokeswoman Bettina Benner, an expert on Thursday ordered a provisional permission for the repair measures. "After consultation with the contractor who is to carry out the remediation, work will begin immediately," she says.
