Bonn artist: Leon Löwentraut works all over the world

BAD GODESBERG. He is young - and yet he already travels around the world to prepare and open his exhibitions. The former student of the Aloisiuskolleg in Godesberg is an autodidact and has specialized in acrylic painting. His exhibition "#Art4GlobalGoals" is currently being shown in the GIZ building in Bonn, where he has artistically implemented the 17 most important development goals of the world community and the UN in lithographs. In addition to the next exhibition in St. Petersburg, other exhibitions are scheduled this year in Copenhagen, Zurich, the Vatican, Florence and Ibiza. (Original text: Verena Düren)

Bad Godesberg: Telekom Baskets Bonn create their own burger

BAD GODESBERG. The inclusive restaurant Godesburger in the Godesberger City has created a special burger for Basketball players and fans. They have now tested it together with many fans. Beef, barbecue sauce, salad, cheese and onion rings - these burger ingredients delight the Telekom Baskets Bonn players. Other basketball players can test the burger in April: The restaurant Godesburger at Moltkeplatz puts the "Telekom Baskets Burger“ on the menu. (Original text: Anouk Hoffmann)

GA-series: Gardens from Bonn and Sinzig are among the 50 most beautiful in the world

BONN. Every year the Callwey Verlag awards the 50 most beautiful private gardens in German-speaking countries. This year there is a garden from Bad Godesberg and one from Sinzig-Westum among the winners. When landscape architect Manuel Sauer began the project, he found a wild garden. Today, the 450 square metres behind the house on Viktoriastraße in Bad Godesberg present excellent greenery in the truest sense of the word: the garden is one of the 50 most beautiful private gardens of the year. In addition to the Bad Godesberger Garten, Peter Berg from Sinzig-Westum is also represented in the publisher's list. The 3000 square meters large garden, which lies at an old vineyard slope, cascades over seven levels. The steep terrain is fortified with natural stones that Berg has specialised in using. Highlights of the garden are a waterfall made of basalt rock and a greenhouse made of concrete, steel and glass. (Original text: Matthias Kirch)

Islamists in Bonn: Muslim Brotherhood increasingly active

BONN. The Muslim Brotherhood is increasingly active in Bonn. The security authorities are keeping an eye on the Al Muhajirin Mosque on Brühler Straße in the north of Bonn. The community denies any association with the Islamist group. The Muslim Brotherhood is also increasingly developing its network in Bonn. The security authorities are therefore keeping an eye on the Al Muhajirin Mosque in the north of Bonn, where followers of the Brotherhood are meeting regularly. Although the unification is not forbidden in Germany, it is under intensive observation due to its Islamist ideology. (Original text: Rüdiger Franz)

Good news for circus fans: Roncalli does not have to cancel Bonn shows

BONN. A construction delay now makes the guest performance of Circus Roncalli in Bonn's Stadtgarten possible. The tickets already purchased for the Kunstrasen remain valid. The Circus Roncalli can perform from 10 May to 1 June in the Stadtgarten am Alten Zoll. This was announced surprisingly by the circus on Friday. A few weeks ago Roncalli announced that they would be coming to the Rheinaue for a guest performance. The Stadtgarten was not available for the Beethoven anniversary year 2020 due to a planned renovation. According to deputy spokesperson for the city council Marc Hoffmann, however, the construction work has been postponed "because there is a need for further project coordination". Trial in Bonn: 19-year-old drugged and raped by two men

BONN. A 20-year-old man is one of two suspects on trial in Bonn. He is said to have drugged a 19-year-old woman and then raped her. The accusations against the young man are very serious: On 10 March 2018, he allegedly drugged a 19-year-old woman in his apartment and raped her together with an unknown accomplice. Until the beginning of the trial, he denied having even known the young woman, although his DNA was found on her. On Friday, however, his lawyer explained: He had known the woman after all. He was sorry that he had lied to the investigating judge. But he believed that as a foreigner he would not be believed when saying that the sex had been consensual. He claims though that he was alone with the 19-year-old that evening. It was only later that a cousin came and was also alone with her in the bedroom. The court asked him for the name and address of this cousin. The trial continues. (Original text: Rita Klein)
