Police look for witnesses: Stolen buggy of handicapped boy reappears

BONN. On April 19, strangers had stolen a disabled boy's rehab buggy from an apartment building on Kaiser-Karl-Ring. According to the Bonn police, the stolen rehab buggy has now reappeared. It was discovered on Saturday by a caretaker in an underground car park in Poppelsdorf on Clemens-August-Straße. The health insurance, with which the boy is insured, had meanwhile announced help and promised to cover the costs for a new buggy. The reappearing buggy could be identified without a doubt, but the police could not find a suspect so far and therefore ask for information. Anyone who has seen anything is asked to contact the police at 0228-150. (Original text: Thomas Faßbender)

Amok at Cologne Central Station: Hostage-taker won’t go to court for now

COLOGNE. The hostage-taker from Cologne Central Station will not have to answer in court for the foreseeable future. As his lawyer confirmed to the "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger", this is the result of a medical opinion. According to the report, the Syrian refugee Mohammad R., who dropped incendiary bombs in a fast food restaurant in October 2018 and later took a woman hostage in a pharmacy, is currently not able to stand trial. The expert proposes that the man in his mid-fifties be transferred to a neurological rehabilitation clinic. He might be able to recover there and have to face a trial after all. A speaker of the higher regional court (OLG) Cologne acknowledged receipt of the expert's assessment. Further details were not published. (Original text: dpa)

Bicycle atmosphereinadequate: Bonn scores badly in ADFC test

BONN. Bonn only ends up in the lower midfield when assessing the situation for cyclists. The interviewees criticise the lack of safety in traffic above all. The situation is particularly bad for construction site management, bicycle theft and the transport of bicycles in buses and trains. according to the survey of the Allgemeinen Fahrradclub (ADFC). The federal city is evaluated below the national average, although it has given itself the title "Bicycle Capital 2020". "This title is not purposeful and is unfavourable", said Helmut Wiesner, Head of Transport in Bonn, on Friday at the presentation of the results. On the other hand, the survey said that the one-way streets open for cyclists in both directions and the offer of public rental bikes were rated as good. (Original text: Nicolas Ottersbach)

Young singers wanted: Men's choirs in Bad Godesberg lack new voices

BAD GODESBERG. The singing clubs in the district are recruiting new talent. In Mehlem, the quartet club could be about to be dissolved. It has been scientifically proven that singing and making music promotes social, mental and physical health and reduces stress hormones. This all sounds very good, but as an ideal evening fitness program choirs do not bring a rush of new members. Men's choirs in particular have great concerns about young talent and suffer from an ageing population. Although proposals to bring together the still existing choirs for example in Bad Godesberg to form one big choir does not got down well with the respective members. Bad Godesberg station: Two elevators back in operation

BAD GODESBERG. Most railway customers in Bad Godesberg will be relieved: The lifts in the station to track 1/2 and into the station’s hall are working again. However, the lift to track 3/4 is still out of service. While a railway spokeswoman was initially unable to provide any information on Friday, a visit to the site showed that an external specialist company had apparentlycommenced its work.
