On our own behalf: GA summer garden event cancelled

BONN. The GA summer garden is cancelled due to very bad weather forecasts. The dangers are predicted to occur due to the rain showers and gusts of wind are too great for humans and technology. Therefore the last summer garden of this season will be cancelled. The event was supposed to start on Sunday at 11.30 a.m. on the roof of the Bundeskunsthalle. Manuel Torres and friends were planned as musical guests.

Sankt Augustiner Straße: Environmental group warns against nitrogen oxide pollution in Beuel

BEUEL. Deutsche Umwelthilfe has measured the nitrogen oxide quantity at the B56 in Beuel several times and determined high values. However, the city does not see any permanent exceeding of the limit values. Resident Werner Janik-Mehlem wanted to know exactly how heavily the breathing air is contaminated. The corresponding data was then collected throughout March. With clear results: The evaluation now showed that 40.3 micrograms of NO2 are contained in one meter height (particularly harmful for children) and 44.9 micrograms in two meters height. The official limit is 40 micrograms.

In an open letter to Lord Mayor Ashok Sridharan, the Umwelthilfe therefore demands that the city react to the current results.

Reusable system from Bonn: Classic design "Pearl bottle" celebrates 50th birthday

BONN. The pearl bottle of the Cooperative of German Fountains turns 50. These technical refinements have contributed to its success.

A design classic? A role model for sustainability? An ingenious marketing success? For Markus Wolff all three terms have their justification when it comes to the "pearl bottle". Wolff is the Chairman of the Board of the German Fountain Cooperative (GDB) based in Bad Godesberg. Its almost 200 member companies, all of them mineral springs operators, produce around 500 branded beverages – primarily mineral waters, secondarily soft drinks based on mineral water.

By far the best known article is the so-called pearl bottle, which has already won several design prizes, most recently the German Design Award in Gold in February, of course in the Classics category.
