Construction work on the A565 completed Nordbrücke re-opened for traffic
Bonn · Good news for commuters: The construction site on the A565 between the North Bridge and the Bonn-Northeast junction, which itself was repaired in July 2018, has been completed. The workers cleared the site on Wednesday.
The construction site on the A565 motorway between the Nordbrücke and the Bonn-Northeast junction, which was set up in July 2018 as a third lane for the development of the hard shoulder, has been completed. Workers cleared the site on Wednesday. For almost a year and a half, it led to some of the worst traffic jams in the region.
In addition to the removal of the hard shoulder, the drainage of the road pavements had to be rehabilitated. In future, the rainwater will no longer flow into the Sieg, untreated, together with rubber abrasion from tyres, oil and petrol residues, but will be collected in a basin. Construction work was delayed by half a year due to planning changes. Now the 8.5 million Euro road construction project has even been completed two days before the release of the new carriageway last announced for 20 December.
