Accident in front of Bonn police headquarters Pedestrian dies after being hit by police van

RAMERSDORF · On Thursday afternoon, there was an accident with serious consequences in front of Bonn police headquarters in Ramersdorf. A 57-year-old pedestrian was hit by a police van and fatally injured.

It was just after 3 pm on Thursday afternoon when a 28-year-old police officer in a police vehicle made a left turn from Landgrabenweg into the police headquarters entrance.

According to police, the officer did not see the 57-year-old pedestrian. The 57-year-old woman received such severe head injuries that she died despite immediate treatment from paramedics, who just happened to pass by the scene of the accident shortly after it happened.

Attempts by emergency physicians to resuscitate the woman were unsuccessful. In response to an inquiry, police spokesman Robert Scholten said that the driver may have been blinded by the sun and not seen the woman on the walkway. Exact details of the accident are still being investigated.

Relatives of the deceased woman and the police officer involved in the tragic accident were receiving emergency pastoral care. Orig. text: Marcel Dörsing/ as
