Phantasialand in Brühl is one of Germany’s ten most popular destinations for foreign tourists. According to the latest survey conducted by the German National Tourist Board on behalf of the federal government, the amusement park ranks eighth among Germany's top destinations.

Coming from more than 60 different countries, 32,000 visitors to Germany were asked about their travel highlights in 2017 as part of the survey. The Miniature Wonderland in Hamburg, the largest model railway set in the world, landed in first place. In second place was Europa Park, a theme park resort located in Rust, in south-west Germany. The Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria came in third.

The Cologne Cathedral did not make it to the top ten; it came in eleventh place behind Phantasialand. Another popular destination in the region is the Loreley rock formation in the Middle Rhine valley (34th place). The Deutsches Eck is the location where the Mosel river joins the Rhine, and this was also on the list (20th place). The Eifel National Park came in place 31.

Phantasialand celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017 and just recently won the Parkscout Award for the best amusement park in Germany. In 16 different categories, 35,000 amusement park visitors had their say. Phantasialand in Brühl was the number one attraction ahead of both Europa Park in Rust and the Hansa Park near Neustadt on the Baltic Sea.
