Little hero from Brüser Berg Praise for a boy who turned in a bundle of money

Bonn · A young Syrian refugee found money on the street and turned it in. He is being praised for his honesty. Abdallah Kiwan is a little hero - not only for his parents, but for many residents of Brüser Berg in Bonn-Hardtberg.

“Many people are praising him. We are very proud of him,” says his mother Manar Hredeen. The nine-year-old boy was on his way home from a youth center when he saw a bundle of something lying on the street. When he took a closer look, he saw that it was money.

It had apparently slipped out of someone’s purse or bag and was lying on the sidewalk. For Abdallah, who left Syria several months ago and came to Germany with his family, it was immediately clear that he could not keep the money. “He gave it right to my mother,” said his sister Laila. The mother, Manar Hredeen was uncertain at first what to do so she went to the helpers who ran the clothing donation center at St. Edith Stein. She had know the helpers for some time already and had a close relationship to them.

“I knew they would be able to help me with the situation,” explained the young Syrian mother to GA. Search for owner of the money Together, the team at the clothing bank made a sign asking for the owner of the money to come forward. The person would have to identify exactly what was lost, said Sabine Spiegelberg of the clothing bank.

If no one claims the money until Monday, “then I will go with Abdallah to the police to hand in the money there.” Helpers at the clothing donation center said it was exemplary how the nine-year-old boy behaved and they praised him for his conduct. They also see him as a little hero of Brüser Berg. (Orig. text: Gabriele Immenkeppel)
