No long queues Reopening of Bonn’s gyms

Bonn · After the obligatory break, gyms in NRW have been allowed to re-open on Monday. Although many sportsmen and -women from Bonn certainly missed his studio deeply, the rush was limited on the first day.

Those who regularly train in the gym could not pursue their hobby in the last few weeks. Since Monday, the studios in Bonn and the region have been allowed to reopen - but the reopening is not without its conditions. There is a whole catalogue of rules that the operators must adhere to. Among other things, these include compulsory masks for employees, a minimum distance of three metres between each device and the collection of contact data in order to trace possible chains of infection.

In the Bonn studio of the "John Reed" chain on Hochkreuzallee, the reopening went "actually quite well", said one employee on Monday afternoon. Before the doors were unlocked at 6 a.m., a short queue had formed. Almost every second unit was locked, so it was easy to keep out of the way. However, most of the customers do not wear a mask - there is no obligation to do so.

The management of the "Valeo" studio on the edge of the Nordstadt district of Bonn only had to take a few measures to be allowed to reopen. The operators only offer personal coaching, which in any case would not result in an unregulated flow of visitors, so they say. Also the requirement for the maintenance of personal data is quasi already fulfilled in the business model. However, where previously four customers sweated on four trainers in one room, the number had been reduced to two and two in order to ensure sufficient distance.

The company was able to react quickly to the crisis by offering online courses, explains Deputy Managing Director Niko Romm in response to a GA enquiry. Parcels with training equipment were sent to support the courses. According to Romm, the customers covered a broad age spectrum. People who belong to the risk group could continue to use the video transmission service after the reopening.

At the "Clever Fit" in Endenich there was "not a mega rush", according to one employee. For the opening at 6 a.m., there were about ten people in front of the door, but so far nobody had to be sent away. Appliances had been moved to the required three meter distance, about every second treadmill was locked. None of the members wore mouth and nose protection. The biggest change is the frequency of the telephone ringing. Many of the guests would ask beforehand what they had to observe and whether a mask was compulsory, for example. "Most people are just happy to be up and about."

Rehab is usually offered in the Bonn sports center. The manager informs the guests by telephone announcement, that after long deliberations this would be suspended until 30 May. Since 11 May, however, the equipment training would be available.

The changing rooms in the "Sport Treff Beuel" are currently closed, which means that visitors have to arrive already in sports clothes. The situation is similar in the "Crossfit" Bonn. With an extensive set of rules on their website, the operators ask all guests to wear mouth and nose protection upon arrival. This can then be removed for training.
