The difficult situation for gastronomy in Corona times is more and more noticeable in the cityscape of Bonn. The first restaurants have had to close permanently, such as the Restaurant Roses on the Kaiserpassage.

"The Roses has closed," confirmed Bernd Engelien, Head of Communications at the Zurich Group, on Monday at the request of the GA. The insurance company is the owner of the Kaiserpassage. "Renovation work is currently underway." There will be minor changes in the Kaiserpassage. "We've found a new tenant for the office area," says Engelien. "And negotiations are underway with another tenant." Otherwise, the situation for the arcade seems difficult. "It's very difficult to rent out a shop at the moment", says Engelien.

In the neighbourhood there are rumours that a branch of the Café Extrablatt chain is to open as a successor to the restaurant Roses. This is confirmed by Luigi Colangiuoli, managing director of Gastro-Management-Köln GmbH. "We hope to open the Extrablatt at the end of September," he tells the GA.
