Canal work Reuterstraße will reduce to one lane

BONN · Infrastructure needs to be kept up to date and the city has chosen the summer vacation time to get some renewal work done. Here’s how canal work along Reuterstraße will affect traffic in the coming weeks.

Motorists who travel regularly on Reuterstraße will require some patience in the coming weeks. From Monday, July 17 until Tuesday, August 29, the city will be doing canal work along the road, which is a major transportation artery of Bonn. The city engineering bureau for road work chose the summer vacation period to carry out the work because it is so heavily traveled during normal times of the year.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane at some of the construction areas. This lane reduction will occur in both directions.

Altogether, 19 manhole covers will be renewed, 13 gullies modernized and 8 gullies fully renewed. A sewer shaft at the corner of Reuterstraße and Jagdweg has to be modified. This will result in cars having to funnel into one lane to pass by the construction zone beginning on Monday, July 11. It is preparation for more canal work which is planned for 2018, when a 410-meter stretch of defective canal on Jagdweg will have to be renewed. It dates back to 1904. (Translation Carol Kloeppel)
