Sightseeing tour Ride in a Zeppelin over Bonn and the Siebengebirge

Bonn · Next weekend, a big airship will be flying above Bonn and Cologne. And there are still some spaces for those who would like to be a passenger aboard the world’s largest Zeppelin. Tickets can be bought online.

For three days, those who are interested will have the opportunity to take off in one of the largest passenger airships in the world and to explore Bonn and the region from a bird's eye view. The Zeppelin NT will take off from Hangelar Airport from Friday to Sunday, September 28th to 30th, for sightseeing flights over Cologne, Bonn and the Siebengebirge (Seven Mountains). Tickets for the sightseeing tour of Bonn and the Siebengebirge cost 380 euros, and for the Cologne route tickets are 475 euros. There are five flights for each route. Some free places are still available.

The Zeppelin NT is not only the largest airship in the world, it is the only commercial airship that takes passengers. Its home base is in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance in southern Germany.

The truck that pulls the airship out of the hangar in Sankt Augustin looks like a toy next to the huge Zeppelin. People who climb aboard look tiny in comparison. And then, the white-and-blue airship, 75 meters longer than an Airbus 380, rises into the air as if it were light as a feather.

The Zeppelin floats above land at around 300 meters altitude. Through the large panoramic windows, passengers can view the sights below from a new perspective. The Bonn route takes passengers first over Beuel, then over the Rhine in the direction of the city center, over the Post Tower, the former government quarter with chancellery, the World Conference Center Bonn and Villa Hammerschmidt. The Zeppelin then leaves the UN campus behind and continues along the Rhine to the Siebengebirge over Drachenfels and Petersburg. Then it floats above Königswinter and Ramersdorf and makes its way back to Hangelar.

For those who take the route over Cologne, called the “Cologne Dome”, highlights include the Lanxess Arena, the Cologne Fair and Exhibition Grounds, the Tanzbrünnen, the Hohenzollern Bridge, the Musical Dome, the Philharmonie, Mediapark - and of course the Cologne Cathedral.
