University of Bonn Students sell Christmas trees for a good cause

POPPELSDORF · Students from the University’s agricultural department will be selling Christmas trees again this year with proceeds going to charity. Some organic food products will also be on sale.

Christmas trees will be on sale once again this year to support a good cause. The Department of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Bonn, together with the Association for Conservation and Landscape Ecology will be selling Christmas trees from Friday, December 16 through Sunday, December 18.

The university students go into the forested area of the Eifel and cut down evergreens strategically to give more room for other plants and animals. They then sell the trees for Christmas, giving the proceeds to a charity. This year, the they will be supporting an organization which helps children suffering from leukemia.

Along with the trees, there will also be some products and produce for sale. The University’s beekeepers will sell honey products, there will be organic potatoes from Wiesengut and apples from the campus at Klein-Altendorf. It will be open during the weekend from 11 am until 4 pm. The location is in the crop area of the botanical gardens at Carl-Troll-Straße.
