On Thursday afternoon, a teenager was assaulted on Rheinallee in Bad Godesberg. Frank Piontek from the press office of the Bonn police confirmed the information to GA on Friday in response to an inquiry. According to information obtained by GA, the incident is said to have occurred at the bus stop in the area of the Niklas Pöhler memorial.

Piontek said police have launched investigations against several youths between the ages of 15 and 17 in connection with the incident. The alleged perpetrators are said to have threatened the 16-year-old and held him for several minutes. The incident occurred on Rheinallee in Bad Godesberg and the attackers knew the victim. In the course of the incident, at least ten other young people are said to have joined the group.

The 16-year-old managed to break free

"Eventually, the youth, who sustained a minor injury, managed to break free and run away," the police spokesman said.

A short time later, the 16-year-old appeared at the police station in Bad Godesberg in the presence of a legal guardian and described what had happened. Police investigations were immediately initiated on suspicion of assault and attempted robbery.

Search of suspect's apartment

According to Piontek, initial investigations led to the preliminary arrest of two suspects aged 15 and 16 before the end of the day. They were taken to police headquarters for questioning. "After being questioned, they were handed over to their parents," the spokesman said.

On Friday morning, officers searched the home of a 17-year-old who was allegedly carrying a weapon during the incident. A softair pistol was found and seized. Police are continuing to investigate the three known perpetrators and put together the exact sequence of events that happened on Thursday afternoon. They also continue their search for others who participated in the assault.

The criminal investigation unit 32 is looking for witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident, which is said to have occurred between 4:30 pm and 5 pm on Thursday. A memorial in remembrance of the death of Niklas Pöhler

A memorial at Rheinallee is a reminder of the tragic death of Niklas Pöhler. On May 7, 2016, on his way home from "Rhine in Flames" with some friends, he ran into a group of young men at the traffic circle on Rheinallee. They attacked him and the 17-year-old received a blow to his temple, falling to the ground. They then kicked him in the head. Five days later, on May 12, the youth from Bad Breisig died in hospital.

Alleged perpetrator, Walid S. was charged with bodily injury resulting in death. But the trial at the Bonn Regional Court ended with an acquittal.
