Unaccompanied suitcase found Temporary closures lifted at Siegburg train station
SIEGBURG · A suitcase without an owner was the reason for closures on Thursday morning at Siegburg train station. Experts from the state criminal bureau had to blow open the suitcase with a water jet.
At around 8:30 on Thursday morning, staff from the cleaning service found a suitcase sitting on its own on the stairway to Track 1. Police reacted by blocking off Europaplatz and Track 1. Train traffic was adjusted accordingly. Experts were called in from the State Criminal Police Office in Düsseldorf to investigate the suitcase.
The suitcase was x-rayed and then blown open with a water jet. In the suitcase, specialists found a radio alarm clock and clothing. Authorities then allowed train traffic to resume as normal and Europaplatz was opened again. The owner of the suitcase is still unknown. (Orig. text: Dennis Sennekamp, Sebastian Fink)
