50 stands in pedestrian zone The Godesberg Nicholas Market is open

Bad Godesberg · Around 50 stalls invite you to linger and browse in the Christmas market in the Godesberg pedestrian zone until 23 December. It was officially opened on Monday afternoon.

At 4.30 pm on Monday afternoon it was “lights on” at the stage in front of the Fronhofer Galeria. Deputy district mayor Hillevi Burmester, head of city marketing Jürgen Bruder and Jürgen Winterwerp, marketing manager at Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB) also cut (probably) the first Christmas stolen of the year. They were supported by Birgit Schallenberg from the city marketing board.

Burmester said the Nicholas Market stood for togetherness. The fact that young and old like to meet there and enjoy the pre-Christmas period is also due in part to the Stadtwerke. They provide the appropriate Christmas lighting as well as the illumination of the Godesburg.

Around 50 stalls and sales stands invite you to browse until 23 December. The stalls include handicrafts and a children’s carousel, jewellery and Christmas decorations. There is also mulled wine, sausages, and Reibekuchen and Flammkuchen.

Novelties this time include an old acquaintance

Dietmar Thieme and his wife Annelore are barbecuing salmon alongside their sausages for the first time. The constantly growing fan base of the large Christmas crib should also be pleased: the crib is also a key component of the Nicholas Market this year and has been completely renovated and spruced up.

In addition to what stall holders are offering, the programme on the “Am Fronhof” stage also adds to the pre-Christmas atmosphere. At weekends there are many highlights such as a children’s programme, Christmas music and dance performances. Nicholas is also popping in – on Thursday 6 December at the Fronhof and on Saturday 8 December in Alte Bahnhofstraße, on each day from 11am to 4pm.

Sunday opening is also planned on 16 December. However, it is still not clear if it can happen. As reported, the Verdi trade union has brought an action against shop opening before the administrative court in Cologne. As well as Bad Godesberg, this affects the district Bonn, where the shops are due to open on Sunday 9 December. The decision of the administrative court is still pending.
