Although Haribo moved from Bonn to Grafschaft this year, the candy giant still has strong ties to Bonn - and not only because the “bo” in Haribo stands for Bonn. Ok, maybe this doesn’t fit perfectly with Haribo, but there is a beer which carries the Bonn name - and it’s called Bönnsch. Not only can one buy this in the brewery in Bonn’s city center, but it can also be purchased at beverage stores and supermarkets, Edeka Mohr for one.

Siegfried

So if you would like to give away something a little stronger, there’s another option to be found in Bonn: Siegfried is the magic word. Not only was he a heroic dragon fighter in the Nibelungen saga, but he is also the namesake of the highly acclaimed Rhineland Dry Gins, made by Raphael Vollmar and Gerald Koenen in an Eifel distillery. It is available in beverage stores and supermarkets, and also at department stores like Kaufhof.

Verpoorten

Staying fluid with our list here, Verpoorten also fits on the list of gifts to give from Bonn. The egg liqueur company with the famous slogan "ei, ei, ei Verpoorten" ("egg, egg, egg Verpoorten") has its headquarters in Bonn, even though it was originally founded in 1876 in Heinsberg. The liqueur is also available in beverage stores and supermarkets.

The Bonn kissing lips

Moving away from the liquids to the must-have in every Bonn gift basket: Introduced in 1971 and redesigned in 2016, it’s the Bonn kissing lips. For those looking for a more sporty souvenir, there’s a Telekom Baskets Bonn scarf or one from the Bonn SC. Both teams have established themselves very well on the sports scene in Germany.

Smoothie maker True Fruits was founded in Bonn in 2006 and has even made headlines beyond Bonn with one or two provocative slogans. According to Wikipedia, co-founders Marco Knauf and Inga Koster discovered smoothies while they were in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2005. The smoothies are available in every major supermarket (except discount supermarkets) - in many different flavors.

Beethoven souvenirs

Ludwig van Beethoven is undoubtedly the city's most famous son. All kinds of souvenirs having to do with the Bonn composer can be found in the museum shop of the Beethoven-Haus. Bonn fashion items can be bought in the “Altstadt” or Old Town. On the Breite Straße, the shop "Schn!" sells items with the Bonn fashion label "Altstadt Apparel". Hoodies and T-shirts with the logo of the University of Bonn are very popular as a souvenir, especially for students.
