Friday, June 28

Opening of the KunstRasen in Bonn

The KunstRasen in the Rheinaue is kicking off its eighth season. Sting, BAP and Nena are the biggest stars on the line-up this year. The opening will take place on Friday with the British pop duo "Tears for Fears", who will make a stop in Bonn together with Kim Wilde. On Saturday, under the motto "Sound of Heimat", Rhineland heroes such as Kasalla, Cat Ballou and Druckluft will meet the Bavarian cheerful natures of Kellerkommando, LaBrassBanda and Kreuzwort.

Manteca at the Dottendorf Jazz Night

Rhythm and Joie de Vivre fresh from Brazil will be brought to the first summer edition 2019 of the Dottendorf Jazz Night by the quartet Manteca on Friday. Together with the Brazilian jazz singer Felicia Touré, Jürgen Peiffer (drums/percussion), Berthold Matschat (piano) and Fritz Roppel (bass) invite the audience on a musical journey across the Copacabana countryside - from samba and bossa nova to Latin and jazz. Popular classics like "Mas Que Nada", "Oje como va" and dance hits like "Despacito" bring Brazil's attitude to living the life.

Summer special at the Springmaus theatre

The Springmaus goes on holiday and presents her summer special of "Bääm - Die Gameshow". It delivers a colourful cocktail of summer improvisation stories - including turbulence.

Architecture Day

All over North Rhine-Westphalia, houses and buildings of all kinds can be visited on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Day of Architecture. In NRW there are 170 architectural projects in 88 cities and communities - including Bonn, where the Marie Kahle Comprehensive School in Castell can be visited. Projects in the region are also included - all locations can be found on the homepage of the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects. This year's Day of Architecture has the motto "Shaping spaces“.

Summer party of the University of Bonn

„France and us" is the theme of this year's summer party of the University of Bonn on the Campus Poppelsdorf. Scientific lectures and experiments, but also participation actions, music and culture will be offered throughout the day.

Petit Médoc in the Siebengebirge

Carnival in June, in the vineyards, and even quite sporty - all this the Petit Médoc promises in the Siebengebirge, to which the Spiel- und Sportgemeinschaft (SSG) Königswinter invites us again on Saturday. Start and finish are at the Weinhaus Gut Sülz. The special: More than 90 percent of the runners start dressed up. The best costumes and the most beautiful groups will be awarded prizes. This year there will be seven refreshment points along the course.

Walks on the island of Grafenwerth

Games, fun and action, plus music and party atmosphere, and all for free and outside: that's what visitors can expect at the festival "R(h)einspaziert" on the island of Grafenwerth in Bad Honnef. The organisers have given the open-air festival a fresh make-over and divided it into two: After a children's and family celebration with its own programme in the afternoon, the evening concert programme will start at 5 p.m. and will mainly feature Cologne's mood bands.

Children's theatre "There's room on the broom"

"The witch had a cat and a very tall hat“ - this is how the story begins in the picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. At first the witch travels alone with her cat, but little by little more and more animals come along and join them on the broom, which finally breaks under the load. The passengers plop into a swamp, where a hungry dragon is already waiting for them. But the animals have a trick ready... The Junge Theater Bonn presents the production for viewers aged 4 and over. It is in German but easily understood - especially if the kids already know this lovely and clever story in their own language.

Sunday, June 30

Reopening of the House of Nature

For two years it was being rebuilt, now the House of Nature on the Waldau celebrates reopening. Visitors can find out about the diversity of native species, the forest ecosystem, bee colonies and sustainability goals. From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. the Nature Detective Day takes place here, where children can experience and explore nature at eight exciting stations.

Rolandseck Festival

As part of the 14th Rolandseck Festival "Transfiguration - Magic of Light" a special concert with Rebecca Carrington and Colin Brown will take place at the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck. The artists present "Musik-Comedy at its best". The Rolandseck Festival runs from 28 June to 4 July.

Special exhibition on donkeys

The Siebengebirgsmuseum in Königswinter dedicates a special exhibition to the donkey. It is often regarded as stubborn and lazy, yet in many places it has become a secret heraldic animal because of its important role as a riding, working and pack animal. In the exhibition "Donkeys - Tradition and Stories" everything revolves around the contradictory and fascinating character of the animals. On Sunday at 3 pm a curator's tour of the exhibition will take place.
