August 9 – 11 Tips for the weekend in Bonn and the region

Bonn/Region · The weekend is going to be colourful and loud. In addition to the Bonner Stadtgartenkonzerte and the 90s Live-Party in the Rheinaue, there will also be a lot of other music to hear in the region. Here are our tips for the weekend.

The Bonn Stadtgarten Concerts

From 2 to 31 August, the Alte Zoll becomes a stage for 28 young bands and musicians every weekend. The music festival, which lasts several weeks, will take place for the eighth time in the Stadtgarten next to Bonn University. Next Friday will be dedicated to women's power. The young Bonn band Rapture will start at 7 pm with reggae, funk and rock. Frollein Smilla will follow at 8.30 pm with a mixture of soul, jazz, pirate choirs and accordion sounds.

Michael Patrick Kelly at KunstRasen

Michael Patrick Kelly (41), who celebrated early successes as a member of the Kelly Family, has built up a second career with music shows. Known among other things as a coach for "The Voice of Germany" and appearances at "Sing mein Song - Das Tauschkonzert", he comes to Bonn with his tour "iD Live 2019" now.

Stadtmusik - A city sounds!

Under the theme "One day - the whole city sounds", music will be played on Saturday in various squares of the city. The Cultural Office of the City of Bonn has set up a varied programme in cooperation with partners - from jazz to rock to classical and world music.

Where: Bonn city centre: Friedensplatz, Bottlerplatz, Markt and Kaiserplatz
When: Saturday, from 2–7 pm.

The 90's live in the Rheinaue

For the second time, the open-air festival "Die 90er Live" will take place on Saturday in the Rheinaue. Visitors will be taken on a musical journey back in time to the 90s with artists such as Blümchen, Oli P., Snap!, East 17 and Culture Beat. Last year 22,000 people celebrated in the Rheinaue.

Film nights at the Friesdorf outdoor pool

This Saturday, the film "Allein in Afrika" (Germany 2018) by director Anselm Nathanael Pahnke, who is also a guest on location, awaits visitors. Visitors can swim before the film from 8 pm to 9.15 pm.

Kurpark Festival in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler

"Enjoy the river" is the name of the open-air festival in the Bad Neuenahr Kurpark. True to the motto "Enjoy with all your senses", visitors can meet Ahr winegrowers and their wines here. The Queen Revival band "The Queen Kings" provides musical entertainment.

Hot Jazz Boys in the park restaurant Rheinaue

This Sunday the Hot Jazz Boys will play at the 23rd Summer Festival in the Parkrestaurant Rheinaue. Visitors are invited to linger with live music and free admission. The musical emphasis of the band is classical Dixieland, a form of jazz.

Exhibition "Very British

The exhibition "Very British. A German View" takes up various aspects of the German-British relationship in eight differently designed rooms. The much-discussed Brexit was also thematically included in the exhibition, as are British films and literature.

"The Cookery Market" in Bad Neuenahr

Another event in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler this weekend is the Köchemarkt. Top chefs from the Ahr valley around Hans Stefan Steinheuer will present their regional specialities. Visitors can also look forward to wines from Ahr winegrowers. A supporting programme rounds off the experience at the Köchemarkt.
