BAP on the KunstRasen in Bonn

On Friday it's time for some Cologne Trad Rock: Cult singer Wolfgang Niedecken celebrates the end of his "Strooßeköter" German tour with BAP on the Kunstrasen in the Rheinaue. Around 7500 visitors are expected when Niedecken and BAP perform one last time with the brass section, which was particularly well received by the fans. In an interview with the GA, Wolfgang Niedecken was delighted about the great interest shown by the fans in Bonn.

Green Juice Festival

A festival in the middle of a peaceful row house settlement in Bonn-Beuel - that is the Green Juice Festival. From 16 to 17 August twelve artists from various genres like Indie, Punkrock and Alternative will perform on two stages. Highlights are OK Kid, Royal Republic, Swiss & Die Andern and Sondaschule. Warm-up parties have been taking place in Bonn since Tuesday and preparations for the festival are in full swing. Since 2018 it is also possible to camp at the Green Juice Festival. In 2019 the event will start for the first time with its own app. This gives a quick overview of the current line-up, a site plan and discounts on the online shop. The "Bluecode" function enables cashless payment at all stands.

Historical wine festival in Heimersheim

On Friday, the secret will be revealed as to who will become heir to the throne of the reigning wine king's majesty, Jenni I.: At the opening of the historical wine festival in Heimersheim (Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler) the crowning of the new wine queen takes place. On Saturday, the medieval hustle and bustle of the market begins. Another highlight of the festival is the Balken-Tjoste competition, in which the participants try to bring each other down with a straw bagwhile sitting on wooden beams. On Sunday the procession of the Wine Queen takes place. This year the festival area has been enlarged. The wine festival ends on Sunday evening with fireworks and candlelight.

International Silent Film Festival

Already on Thursday, August 15, the International Silent Film Days, which run until August 25, begin in the Arkadenhof of Bonn University and in the Brotfabrik Cultural Center. The 32nd edition focuses on films by and about women. Particular attention should be paid to Alice Guy, a pioneer of film and the world's first film director, who headed production at Gaumont from 1897 to 1906 before founding her own production company in 1910 in Hollywood with Solax. Her films "Madame Has Desires" and "The Consequences of Feminism" as a prelude to "Invisible Fetters" play in an amusing way with the traditional gender roles.

Stadtgarten concerts: Pulsar Trio

A catchy tune guarantee with refined rhythms - this is what the jazz combo "Pulsar Trio" promises, (which is a) who are guests at the Bonn Stadtgarten concerts. With seemingly opposing instruments such as sitar, piano and drums, the trio produces new sound spaces and yet catchy melodies. Like the later performance of the Romanian band "ZMEI 3", the Pulsar Trio is also supported by the Kultursekretariat NRW. ZMEI 3 mixes folklore, jazz and soul.

Food Lovers Burger Festival in Bad Godesberg

The "best burgers of the region" will be presented at the Food Lovers Burger Festival in Bad Godesberg. The visitors can decide which burger is really the tastiest and choose the "Burger Champion". More than 25 burger trucks and stands will be available at the Theaterplatz.

First home game of the Bonner SC

The Bonner SC will play its first home game of the new regional league season against the U23 of Schalke 04 on Saturday. After having lost in Lippstadt at the start of the season, the Rheinlöwen defeated Fortuna Düsseldorf 3:1 in the second game.

Classic Rock Night on the KunstRasen

No less a guest than Jethro Tull with singer and instrumental multi-talent Ian Anderson will be playing the Kunst!Rasen in the Rheinaue on Saturday. The British progressive rock veterans are part of the Classic Rock Night.

Maria Laach Monastery Market

For the first time the Laacher Klostermarkt takes place this year on two days, Saturday and Sunday. In addition to demonstrations and activities in the businesses, arts and crafts will be presented, and there will be a children's programme and organ concerts.

Rheinauen flea market

Since March, the Rheinaue in Bonn has been a place for dawdling again. The next date is Saturday. Eight times a year "Melan macht Märkte" organises the most famous flea market in Bonn. Also locally a place can still be reserved: on Friday between 9.30 and 15 o'clock. And according to the organizer, there are still enough free places even for those who have made a last-minute decision.

50 Years Woodstock - Film and Concert

It's been 50 years since the Woodstock fairy tale. On this occasion the film "Taking Woodstock" will be shown at Drehwerk 17/19 in Wachtberg, followed by a concert with Wolf Wiedemann. In his solo program with "old guitar and used voice" he presents songs by Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez and many others from the Woodstock era. Stadtgarten concerts

Three performances are planned for Saturday at the Stadtgarten concerts: The jazz-pop duo "Jule und Uwe" will start at 6.30 pm. Cbus will play Rhenish surf'n'roll from 7.30 pm and the Cologne-Bonn band "Dead Man's Eyes" can be seen and heard from 8.45 pm.

Scorpions on the KunstRasen

They are considered pioneers and legends of Rock'n-Roll and have shaped rock history with their music. In the GA interview, Scorpions singer Klaus Meine looks back on previous concerts in Bonn. On Sunday the Scorpions perform on the Kunst!lawn in the Rheinaue.

Manuel Torres at the GA Summer Garden

Cheerful, groovy, touching, pulsating - Manuel Torres presents the music and joie de vivre of Latin America. He will once again be a guest at the GA Summer Garden on the roof of the Bundeskunsthalle.

Vegan market in Ahrweiler

Already for the sixth time the VeganMarket takes place in Ahrweiler, this time organized by Ariwa Koblenz. In addition to vegan food, there will also be a stage programme, cooking shows and lectures on nutrition and animal rights. Various organisations will be represented with information and sales stands. Not only people who already live vegan are expressly invited, but also those who ask themselves: "What else can you eat there?“

Castle tours in Brühl

The castles of Augustusburg and Falkenlust in Brühl are among the most important baroque and rococo buildings in Germany. While Falkenlust Castle can be visited without a guided tour, Augustusburg Castle can only be visited as part of a guided tour included in the admission fee. Guided tours take place during opening hours, waiting times of up to 30 minutes are possible. In Falkenlust Castle there are audio guides in many different languages. Both palaces are connected by an avenue through the palace park.
