Bonn / Region · There is a "loooohoooooot" going on in Bonn and the region this weekend. The highlight (of) for many Bonners will most likely be the massive fun fair Pützchens Markt. But Bonn also has quieter events to offer. An overview.
Opening concert of the Beethovenfest
The first concerts on the occasion of the Beethovenfest in Bonn begin on Friday. A total of seven concerts of the series will take place this weekend. Three of them are already sold out. The venues for the concerts are the World Conference Center Bonn, the auditorium of the University of Bonn, the Beethoven House and the Post Tower Lounge. The concerts take place both in the evening and during the day. The opening concert will be played by the Philharmonia Zurich and will present works by Beethoven, Martin and Bartok. The conductor is Jukka-Pekke Saraste.

Wine market in Ahrweiler
On Friday the Ahrweiler Wine Weeks go into their second round. On the market square in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler the wineries and winegrowers' cooperatives present themselves. The festival invites you to dance on Friday. The band Noble Composition will play from 6 pm. At 19.30 h Burgundia von Ahrweiler, Carlotta Müller, officially opens the wine market. Also on Saturday and Sunday a colorful program waits for the visitors.

Pützchens Market
It's time again: From Friday on Bonn-Pützchen is a place of fun and madness – when the 652nd edition of Pützchens Markt kicks off. The city of Bonn expects more than one million visitors at the big fair. Nine new rides, in total more than 500 rides and fairground stalls on 80,000 square meters offer loads of fun and hustle and bustle. On Friday, a lot of entertainment is offered around the barrel tapping. At 1.30 pm the historical procession starts at the intersection of Pützchens Chaussee/Holtorfer Straße, which is organized for the ninth time by the district administrative office Beuel together with the circle of friends of Pützchens Markt and the showmen. The opening in the Bayernfesthalle follows at 3 pm with the traditional tapping of the barrel by Lord Mayor Ashok Sridharan. On the stage, the Zaubertrixxer and the Paveier will create an atmosphere.And also the General-Anzeiger will beat the big fair every day until Tuesday. Jazz Tube 2019
On Friday the Jazz Tube Festival 2019 will continue. This time with the bands CTO, Ausfahrt and Blanca Núnez & Band. From songs from the 70s to Grungerock and Spanish songs the riders of the Jazz Tube will be offered a lot. The concerts will take place atthree subway stops. This is street music on a completely different level - and in a completely different place anyway.

Wine festival in Linz
On the market square in Linz, a wine village is being builtfor the weekend. The Winzerfest 2019 will take place there until Monday. Not only wine but also music will be offered to the visitors. The Wine Queen and the Wine Princesses will also be guests. The traditional Wine Queen procession will take place on Sunday.

RheinBühne Festival in Poppelsdorf
Already on Wednesday the Rheinbühne-Festival starts in Poppelsdorf. And of course there will also be various events on at the weekend. On Friday Christoph Kuch will be a guest in the Clemens-August-Saal with his program "Ich weiß". At the same place Nessi Tausendschön will perform on Saturday. The RheinBühne-Festival is known for cabaret and comedy newcomers and offers them an arena.

Ronja Räubertochter at the Junge Theater Bonn
On Saturday the play Ronja Räubertochter, based on the novel by Astrid Lindgren, will have its premiere at the Junge Theater Bonn. The play is about the daughter of the robber chief Mattis who is born on the night of a thunderstorm. At the same time the son Birk of an enemy robber is born. Later the children get to know each other and help each other. But the friendship between the two is, as expected, difficult. The play is suitable for children from the age of six. The play is re-staged for the fifth time. It’s in German, but very easy to understand. It’s one of the most beautiful adventure stories ever written for children.

European Baseball Championship in Bonn
Starting Saturday, twelve top baseball teams from all over Europe will play for the title of European Baseball Champion in Bonn and Solingen. The first game (Croatia against Spain) starts at 11 am in the stadium of the Bonn Capitals. The official opening takes place at 18.30 o'clock. Dogs, chairs, drinks and food are not allowed. The German team will also play on Saturday at 7 pm.

SSF-Festival at the Münsterplatz
The 44th SSF-Festival takes place on Saturday at the Münsterplatz in Bonn. For one day the swimming and sports friends of Bonn will present themselves to the citizens. At 11 am the festival will be opened by the board of directors. As well as different sporting activities taking place a musical program is also offered. The band SoulCake accompanies the program from 11.15 am to 5 pm.

African Concert in the Brotfabrik
On Saturday evening an African concert will take place in the Brotfabrik in Bonn. Pape Seck & African Melody will perform at the concert. Seck was born in Senegal and combines harmonic sounds with rhythmic drumming. If you want to try African music yourself, you can attend one of the workshops from 5 pm.

Getting to know each other workshop of the Teen Ensemble Marabu
For 19 years, the Young Ensemble at Marabu Theatre has been developing its own plays. For five years there has also been a children's ensemble. And now a Teen Ensemble is to be added. Young people between the ages of 13 and 16 are to develop and perform a theatre production there from September to February. On Saturday there will be a workshop to get to know each other. Starting in September, rehearsals will take place on Fridays between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., on several weekends and also during the holidays. The premiere of the piece is on 15 February 2020.

Beweries and beer culture in Bonn
Not only Cologne with its Kölsch has a distinctive beer culture. In Bonn, too, there used to be countless breweries. Whoever wants to discover these breweries and beer houses, can doso on Saturday. Instead of traveling, a guided tour with "stories about Gambrinus, Arnulf and Laurentius as well as the rules of beer brewing and the foundation of the "Bürgerliches Brauhaus Bonn", from which the "Kurfürsten-Brauerei" emerged later, is available.

Day of the Open Monument
Under the theme "Modern(e): Upheavals in Art and Architecture", the Day of the Open Monument will take place throughout Germany on Sunday. The city of Bonn will take part again this year. In Bonn the whole thing is organized by the werkstatt Baukultur Bonn in cooperation with the Untere Denkmalbehörde Bonn. In more than 60 places one can discover the different facets of the city. Aspecial highlight: As the 60th anniversary of the Beethovenhalle is also scheduled for this day, the city offers a glimpse behind the scenes and provides information about the protection of historical monuments and the renovation process.

Jazz in the beer garden
On Sunday another concert of the series "Jazz im Biergarten" will take place in the Parkrestaurant Rheinaue. This time the band Lost in The Jam plays a mixture of jazz, funk, soul and blues. On their website, the band says that their music and concerts are meant to remind us of the "great times of the famous jazz club of the same name".

Through the World Cultural Heritage Site in the Bundeskunsthalle
Since the end of August, visitors to the Bundeskunsthalle have been able to experience a virtual journey through the various world cultural heritage sites. The exhibition enables visitors to take a look at some of the sites that have been destroyed today and brings them to life through reconstructions.

Reading tour through the Old Town
Already for the 15th time, reading tours will take place in Bonn's old town as part of the Rhenish Summer of Culture 2019. On Sunday, three trips will take place at different locations.
