An accident on Wednesday morning resulted in an overturned vehicle on Godesberger Allee (B9). Police said that the road from Bonn in the direction of Bad Godesberg had to be closed off until 11:30 a.m.. Traffic was diverted beginning at the Hochkreuz district.

Police at the scene of the accident said that a 59-year-old man was traveling in a van on Godesberger Allee at around 9:05 a.m. near the Godesberg tunnel. He was changing to the left lane, and overlooked a white Audi being driven by a 26-year-old. The driver of the van bumped into the Audi, which then hit the curb, sending it into the air and overturning. The Audi landed on its roof in a lane of oncoming traffic, colliding with another vehicle being driven by a 40-year-old.

The Audi driver was injured in the accident and had to be admitted to hospital. The two other drivers involved in the accident were not injured. Police had to completely close off the lanes of the B9 in the direction of Bad Godesberg until 11:30 a.m. In the opposite direction, traffic was routed past the accident site in one lane until 11 a.m. This resulted in considerable traffic back-up in both directions. The overturned vehicle and the vehicle belonging to the 40-year-old driver had to be transported from the scene of the accident with tow trucks.
