Rhine River Vacation feeling on the promenade

Bad Godesberg · Many Bonners headed out for a stroll on the river promenade over Easter weekend for a little vacation feeling.

Bikes and rollerblades, joggers and walkers, two feet or four feet – lots of people with friends, families and pets were out and about on the Rhine promenade over Easter weekend. Despite the rain showers here and there, a feeling of vacation was in the air at the Dreesen Hotel where the Biergarten opened for the season.

Claudia Posthaus and her daughters Svenja and Annika were at the river taking selfies with their cell phones, Rhine river in the background. Although they don’t live in Bonn anymore, they always come back at Easter and do brunch with the whole family. Heike Thomann and her daughters, Lotte, Hana Yu Mi and Mika were out for a jog. She said her daughters were fitter than her. Asked about the Japanese names of two of her daughters, she said they came from the six years she lived in Japan.

A young couple could be seen taking photos with the Petersburg in the background. Nature did not yet deliver all the pretty buds needed for a colorful photo but they tried to find the best background they could to at least give the impression that spring was in the air.

Boule season had opened on March 19 at Päda park near the Bastei but all the players were in Ahrweiler at a tournament on Easter Saturday. On the water was also the place to be. Hans-Werner and his wife boarded the Köln-Düsseldorfer ferry at the Bastei for a trip to Linz and back. It was a nice break from the hospital and he said people were helpful with his wife, who was in a wheelchair.

Coming over on a ferry from Niederdollendorf, the Karamin family pushed their bikes up the hill. They had done a ride on both sides of the river, pulling their sons in an attached trailer. After the ride, they were heading home for a traditional Easter egg hunt.
