Wedding exhibition and fair

Wedding Day in Bonn: Retailers and service providers from Bonn and the region present their offers, ideas and services to help engaged couples organize a dream wedding. Stroll from stand to stand, ask questions, compare offers and be inspired. Around 40 retailers and service providers will be on hand, and don’t forget the bridal fashion shows. Traditional carnival march through the city

“Sternmarsch”: One can tell that carnival season is coming closer. The carnival traditional corps from Bonn and the Rhineland will march through the Bonn city center, playing music and in uniform on Friday evening. Around 500 members of the corps will proceed through the inner city, ending at Marktplatz, where there will be a gathering in front of the Old Town Hall.

Bonn VOKAL - A capella festival

For anyone who enjoys a capella music, this is for you! The jazz choir of the University of Bonn took 2nd place at the WDR television show "Der Beste Chor im Westen 2017" and 1st place at another German Choir Competition. Here, they will perform in the newly renovated auditorium. Tickets are 34.30 euros (some qualify for reduced rate of 28.50) and can be ordered online here: bonnticket.de

Concert for the Chinese New Year

The Great Chinese New Year's Concert is billed as one of the most successful unconventional concert formats worldwide. Every year, a traditional orchestra from different Chinese regions is selected by a panel of experts to perform the highlights of its local music-making in the West. Under excellent conductors and experienced musicians in traditional costumes, both traditional Chinese music and contemporary works will be performed. This year, the famous Suzhou Chinese Orchestra, conducted by Pang Kapang, is on tour. Tickets can be purchased online: bonnticket.de

China Light Festival in Cologne Zoo

It’s the final chance to visit the China Light Festival at the Cologne Zoo this weekend. There are lighting displays of colorful animals and fantasy figures, including turtles, swans and giant puffer fish, along the circular path through the zoo. Every evening from 5:30 pm to 9 pm, visitors can enjoy the lights. Adults pay 16 euros, children 4 - 12 years-old pay 8 euros. There is also an accompanying program for the whole family to enjoy. Cushion concert for small children

Cushion concert at Bonn Opera: "Das kleine Ich-bin-ich" (“The little I am Me”) based on a story from Mira Lobe and Susi Weigl about a colorful little animal who goes on an adventurous search for his identity. With Nadine Schwitter (narrator) and the Chamber Ensemble of the Beethoven Orchestera, for children from 3 to 5-years-old (in German). The concert is 40 minutes with no intermission. Exhibition: From Neanderthal Man to the Present

This exhibition at the LVR Landesmuseum takes visitors through 400,000 years of cultural history in the Rhineland. It shows the development of the region from the very beginning from the Stone Age until present day. “Not only is the world-famous original Neanderthal man (40,000 years B.C.) on display here, but also the world's largest Neolithic well. Further highlights are the Fritzdorf gold beaker from the Bronze Age, the Pfalzfeld Column dating from Celtic times, and a treasure that had once belonged to a Celtic princess from Waldalgesheim.” For more information, please visit the English language website: landesmuseum-bonn.lvr.en

Fantasy Film Fest in Cologne

The organizers bill this as “10 FILMS - 2 DAYS - 7 CITIES - JANUARY 2019” On January 19/20 the film festival comes to Cologne with some interesting movies: “Keepers” - a British suspense story which takes place on a small island near Scotland, “Office Uprising” - a horror comedy from the U.S., “Burning” - a South Korean mystery thriller (with English subtitles), and many more. COMING UP

“Magic of the Dance”: The successful Irish show “Magic of the Dance” combines the top tap dancers of the world with wonderful music and an exciting love story for a fast-paced and thrilling performance. It combines both traditional tap with modern dance with innovative choreography. The love story is told by none other than Hollywood star Sir Christopher Lee known from “Lord of the Rings”.
