BONN/REGION · With the leaves falling everywhere, autumn is definitely in the air and what better way to enjoy it then visiting one of the fall markets this weekend. An added bonus is Sunday shopping in those small towns with the markets!

A friendly reminder that Tuesday and Wednesday next week, October 31 and November 1 are public holidays and most businesses will be closed.

Martinimarket: The “Martinimarkt “in Bad Honnef is a traditional autumn market and numerous merchants and stands are expected. With a pre-Christmas flair and a mixture of lights, straw, autumn flowers and pumpkins, visitors enjoy a romantic mood. There are activities for children and culinary specialties. Open Oct. 25, Wed. through Oct. 28, Saturday, 12 - 9pm, and Sunday, Oct. 29 from 12 - 7pm. Sunday shopping in the city with stores open from 1 - 6pm.

30th Brühl Hubertus market: Fall market with lots of atmosphere, craftsmen and women present their work at rustic old-time stands. Old and long forgotten occupations such as glassblowers, cigar makers, blacksmiths, pipe makers, and basket weavers live on. 11am - 7pm, inner city of Brühl.

Amnesty International Run for Human Rights: Participants to meet at the roundabout at the Beuel side of the Rhine riverbanks just south of the China boat. Registration begins at 2 pm. Start is at 3 pm. Runners can choose a 5k or a 10k route. The run is especially in support of freedom of religion of the Bahá'í in Iran and the release of their leaders.

Exhibition from Anja Kleeman-Jacks: “Treibgut” (floating debris) Fitting for the UN Climate Conference, the artist uses items found washed up on the shore as her work material, calling attention to pollution of the sea and climate change. Her materials come from harbors, beaches and coastal towns but also urban and rural areas. It runs Oct. 30 - Nov. 16 at the Casino des Wissenschaftszentrum on Ahrstraße 45, Bonn. Admission is free.
