Weekend November 3 - 5 What’s happening in Bonn and the region?

Bonn/Region · Bonn city center comes alive with nighttime illumination all weekend long and stores are open for Sunday shopping. Rheinbach has special late night “Blue Night” shopping, and don’t forget to check out the many musical acts from British and American indie rock to Celtic folk rock and Canadian progressive rock.

BONN

“Bonn illuminated”: From November 3-5, Bonn city center becomes a luminous stage. Buildings, streets and squares become major players. Lighting artists tell stories with illuminations and projections, and direct attention to special attractions or businesses. Events, tours and activities throughout the city center make the event a total work of art. The lighting displays will be on until 10 pm each evening. On Sunday, stores will be open for shopping from 1 - 6pm.

COMING UP:

The Night Watchman: Tour in English on Nov. 10, Friday at 7pm. Travel with the night watchman through Bonn. A walk through the darker, wilder sides of the city. These were dangerous times; apart from dealing with the normal rabble and riff-raff in and around the city, the electoral capital of Bonn was threatened in the 17th century by war, fire and pestilence with the bubonic plague. Tour meets on Rheingasse at the corner of Brassertufer, 7pm and takes approximately 2 hours. 10-12 euros.

Exhibition from Anja Kleeman-Jacks: “Treibgut” (floating debris) Fitting for the UN Climate Conference, the artist uses items found washed up on the shore as her work material, calling attention to pollution of the sea and climate change. Her materials come from harbors, beaches and coastal towns but also urban and rural areas. It runs Oct. 30 - Nov. 16 at the Casino des Wissenschaftszentrum on Ahrstraße 45, Bonn. Admission is free.
