BONN · An international summer fête, a Bonn Capitals baseball game, the broadway musical “Chicago” and a bike tour along the picturesque Ahr River are all happening this weekend. And there is lots more too!

Independent Bonn International School Summer Fête

I.B.I.S. Summer Fête: The annual Summer Fête is one of the biggest social events in the calendar of this international school in Bonn. As always, visitors can expect music, food, and lots of fun and games from an international community representing more than 48 countries. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the international atmosphere and sample the delicious food and drink!

Baseball game: Bonn Capitals vs. Bremen Dockers

Bonn Capitals home game: Here’s a chance to come and support Bonn’s own team, the 2018 Baseball Bundesliga Champions. They will take on the Bremen Dockers in a double header at the Bonn Capitals Baseball Stadium in the Rheinaue this weekend. The AGBC (American German Business Club) has reserved seating above the visitor dugout for the first game. The family-friendly event is free and AGBC members will be on hand to explain baseball for first-timers. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Open day at German Aerospace Center

The Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (The German Aerospace Center - DLR) in Bonn will open its doors to everyone for the second time on June 16. There will be an opportunity for visitors to take a look behind the scenes at the three institutions operating in Bonn-Oberkassel: DLR Project Management, Space Management and Project Management Aeronautics Research. Admission is free.

Sculpture exhibition with international artists in Schweinheim

TheRhineArt is a sculpture exhibition at the Katharinenhof: The short trip to Schweinheim, Venner Straße 51 should not be a problem but it is indeed a road with twists and turns. But the trip is worth it, especially on Sunday, June 16, when the artist couple Anne and Konrad Beikircher open the new sculpture exhibition TheRhineArt at their Katharinenhof. In the spacious and undisturbed park area, 60 international artists exhibit their sculptures. The elaborate overall installation is already technically and logistically like a true masterpiece. Whisky tasting in Bonn

Divas - A travesty revue with real guys

Celebrating 25 Years of the Haus der Geschichte (History Museum)

Haus der Geschichte: Bonn’s history museum celebrates a 25th anniversary over the weekend with a variety of entertainment and activities for the whole family. The theme for the special celebration is "passion for collecting". Visitors will find a craft station, an art studio and children's theater for children aged three and over. Admission is free. Mittelrhein Music Festival

Summer festival 2019: The Mittelrhein Music Festival kicks off this weekend with “Dorothy Parker’s New York Stories in Concert”. In the Roaring Twenties, she was the queen of New York. Dorothy Parker wrote for "Vogue", "Vanity Fair" and the "New Yorker". Her short stories and poems were among the most important of their time. Actress Birgit Minichmayr reads a selection of her short stories and the classic jazz piano duo Chris Hopkins & Bernd Lhotzky ("Echoes of Swing") play American songs and melodies from the past century to match the stories. Hopkins and Lhotzky are among the world's leading classical jazz pianists with their exuberant piano style full of energy and wit. They play on two grand pianos, a real pleasure for the audience. "Chicago" original broadway musical in Cologne

“Chicago”: In the seventies, this musical on Broadway triggered a real hype, but the new production became even more successful in 1996. After the revival performances in New York, the musical “Chicago” moved to London and finally to Vienna in the German-speaking world. In 1997, the new musical version of Chicago won six Tony Awards. Now the acclaimed Broadway production Chicago 2019 is here, with lyrics and songs in English, and German subtitles.
